Teeth Whitening

A bright smile can make a difference in how you see yourself and how others perceive you.  From job interviews to romantic evenings, your smile is often your first impression.

There are many causes of tooth discoloration, including aging and the use of tobacco or staining drinks like coffee, tea, and red wine.  Certain antibiotics taken in childhood and even excessive fluoride can result in tooth discoloration.

I was so impressed with the amount of difference in the whiteness after the Zoom.

Zoom! Tooth Whitening is safe, long-lasting, and makes your teeth dramatically whiter in one appointment.  Treatment involves the use of a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel and a special Zoom! Light that activates the gel, increasing its effectiveness by 26% or more, all with less tooth sensitivity than tray methods would cause to get the same whitening effect.

Prescriptions for gentle but powerful at-home whitening systems are also available.  At-home whitening involves wearing a whitening tray over your teeth for several hours a day; or while you are sleeping, over a period of two to three weeks.

Crowns and Dental Bridges

Crowns and bridges often serve double duty.  By replacing missing teeth with natural looking materials, they can enhance your smile and even your speech.  For good dental health, crowns and bridges can:

  • Restore and maintain a natural bite.
  •  Prevent shifting and tilting of nearby teeth.
  •  Help ward off dental decay and periodontal disease.
  •  Prevent over-stressing of your remaining teeth.

Crowns

A crown is a precision crafted restoration for a damaged tooth, or often for a tooth that has been saved by a root canal.  Crowns are strong, durable, and they cover and protect the damaged tooth.

  • Porcelain crowns offer the life-like translucency of natural teeth.
  • Cast post & core crowns strengthen a severely broken down tooth and replace missing portions with a natural looking result.
  • Gold crowns are gentle on opposing teeth when you chew, as well as very strong and durable.  And, of course, they’re gold!

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a custom tooth replacement anchored to neighboring teeth.  Bridges require the teeth on either side of the missing tooth to be crowned and used as the supports to hold the replacement.

  • Modern all-porcelain bridges offer the look and translucency of natural teeth, creating a beautiful smile.
  • Dental bridges assist in clear speech, better chewing ability and help prevent adjacent teeth from shifting.

Because crowns and dental bridges are precision made in a dental laboratory, two or more appointments may be needed to complete your procedure. Contact Scott A. Hudimac, DDS today for more information on crowns and dental bridges.

Bonding and Veneers

My new veneers are in now and why did I wait so long? They are great!

                  Genevieve Bosco

Bonding uses a tooth-colored resin to close spaces between teeth, whiten teeth, and even lengthen small or misshapen teeth.  Bonding is also a great repair option for chipped teeth.

A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or plastic that is bonded to an existing tooth in order to improve its color or shape.  Veneers are generally used on the front and top of a tooth, and like bonding, can be used to close spaces between teeth, whiten teeth, and even lengthen small or misshapen teeth.  If you think bonding or veneers might help improve your smile, please Contact Scott A. Hudimac, DDS today!

Inlays and Onlays

Dental Inlays and onlays are custom pieces created in a laboratory out of porcelain, new state-of-the art resins, and even gold to help in the restoration of damaged teeth.  They are often used in repairing the biting surface of the teeth, much like a filling, and indeed are good alternatives to traditional fillings.  An onlay is a more extensive reconstruction that covers one or more cusps of your tooth and provides superior strength and longevity when compared to a filling of the same size.

Are inlays and onlays right for you?  Scott A. Hudimac, DDS provides you with the information you need to make the right decision about your oral health.
