In the past, I've had so many bad experiences with a number of other dentists. But here with Dr. Hudimac and his "Team", I actually look forward to each visit. I am so relaxed in his chair and I never feel a thing!

General Dental Care

General Dental Care involves services that focus on the health, care, and good function of your teeth, gums, and supporting structures.

Often, a toothache, broken tooth, missing filling, or some other painful malady brings patients in for general dental care.  At the office of Scott A. Hudimac, DDS, you receive gentle dental care with five star service.  Emergency appointments are available.

To avoid unexpected dental problems, we recommend regular dental visits every six months to prevent little problems from becoming big ones.  (And don’t worry, we have patients who never thought they’d “like” coming to the dentist, but who look forward to their visits now.)

Dental Checkups and Cleanings are important, and with a little tender loving care can be as non-stressful as trip to the barber or an hour in the salon.  Don’t believe us?  Contact Scott A. Hudimac, DDS today for your first appointment.

New Technologies

Our state-of-the-art treatments and technologies help your appointment go more smoothly and often with less anxiety.

Digital Dental Radiography

Mother and daughter

With Digital Dental Radiography we can do X Rays more comfortably and with 70% to 90% less radiation.  Improved accuracy means we have to re-expose our patients less often.  There’s no film to develop, and in a few seconds both you and Dr. Hudimac can be discussing a computerized image that’s easy to see and helps us communicate your problems clearly.

DIAGNOdent

DIAGNOdent is an advanced laser technology for finding tooth decay.  DIAGNOdent scans your teeth with harmless pulses of laser light, finding decay that’s hidden inside or between teeth, where conventional examinations may miss it.  Of course, finding decay in its earliest stages helps us provide the least stressful and least expensive dental care for our patients.

White Fillings and Sealants

At the office of Scott A. Hudimac, DDS, we use white fillings exclusively.  We believe the new composite resins are simply superior to silver amalgam fillings, and they are durable and long lasting.  White fillings also give a much more natural looking, esthetic result which our patients love.

White fillings don’t expand like silver fillings, which often causes the tooth to crack.  While they cost a bit more than traditional silver fillings, in the long run white fillings are better for your teeth and your smile.

Sealants are clear or white plastic placed in the grooves of the back teeth to protect them from bacteria and decay.  Sealants help prevent enamel breakdown and improve the life of your teeth.

Intra Oral Camera

Our small intra oral camera not only helps us in diagnosis, but is a great communications tool.  When you can see the problem on the computer screen, it helps you understand your condition and ask the right questions, choosing the treatment options that are best for you.

Sensitive Teeth

If you teeth are sensitive, or even hurt when exposed to cold air, hot or cold food, beverages, and sweets, you may have sensitive teeth.

Sensitive teeth happen when the layer called dentin becomes exposed through wear, broken enamel, or even “over-aggressive” brushing.  It’s more than an annoyance.  Over time it can lead to decay, infection, and even tooth loss.  Sensitive teeth should be considered an early warning sign, one where good treatment need not be that stressful or expensive.  If you think you have sensitive teeth, please Contact Scott A. Hudimac, DDS today for your appointment.

Dentures

Thank you for your great work on my new front crowns. My front teeth were really getting worn down.

These new crowns look so natural and so much better. I also want to commend you on your commitment to getting the perfect fit and look.

Dentures can be an affordable and satisfactory way of replacing missing teeth.  Missing teeth affect more than your smile and can set off a chain reaction of shifting teeth and periodontal disease.  With dentures, you’ll chew better, look better, and have a healthier jaw joint.  We offer:

  • Upper Partial Dentures
  • Lower Partial Dentures
  • Complete (Full) Dentures
  • Immediate Dentures*

*(When periodontal disease and decay result in the removal of many teeth and the insertion of a denture replacement all in the same day.)

Are dentures right for you?  Scott A. Hudimac, DDS will provide you with the information you need to make the right decision, including how to care for your dentures and maintain good dental health.

Root Canal

Sometimes, due to deep cavities or broken teeth, the pulp deep inside a tooth can become infected.  Symptoms vary from tooth sensitivity to severe pain, from a bad taste in your mouth (from the infection), to an abscess that can damage bone and even be life threatening. Chronic abscess can be present that destroy the bone around a tooth but be totally painless.

Root canal allows the infection to be removed and the tooth saved.  However, by removing much of the inner pulp layer, root canal does weaken the tooth, and a crown is recommended to help cover and protect the remaining tooth.

Root Canal work has a reputation for being scary and even painful dental work, but with the gentle dentistry approach of Scott A. Hudimac, DDS, you have a lot less to worry about.  We’ll do everything to assure you of a relaxed and comfortable experience.  Don’t hesitate to ask about our Sedation Therapy if you feel it might be right for you.

Gum Disease and Dental Disorders

Good dental care is about more than treating toothaches and dental decay.  At the office of Scott A. Hudimac, DDS, we are concerned with the entirety of your dental health. Without exception, early diagnosis and treatment is the least stressful and least costly.  Contact Scott A. Hudimac, DDS today so that we can begin a treatment plan that’s right for you.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is an infection of the gum and bone that surrounds and supports your teeth.  It is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults and is almost always painless.  Signs include persistent bad breath, bleeding of the gums, swollen gums, gums that pull away from the teethe, and loose or moving teeth.  It won’t go away on its own, and research shows that it increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, respiratory infections, lower birth weight babies, and premature babies.

A variety of techniques and tools can be used to treat gum disease, including deep cleaning to remove plaque, tartar, and bacteria from below the gum line, antibiotics, oral rinses, oral hygiene education, and risk factor counseling.

The sooner we begin treatment, the better we can control periodontal disease and restore you to good dental health.

TMD

Temporomandibular disorder involves muscle spasms, pain, and joint imbalance where the lower jaw meets the skull at the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Symptoms include headaches, earaches, clicking and popping of the joint, difficulty opening and closing your mouth, and sore or painful jaw muscles.  Millions of people suffer from TMD, but your dentist can help break the cycle of pain.

Bruxism

Do you clench or grind your teeth while sleeping?  This is called bruxism, and over time it can lead to worn and sensitive teeth, damage to the jaw joint, earaches, and even chipped and loose teeth.  A common and quite effective treatment is a nightguard, a plastic device worn while you are sleeping to protect your teeth from the damage of grinding.

Migraine and Tension Headaches

Yes, even headaches can be a dental disorder.  Intense, prolonged jaw clenching is one source of migraine pain, tension headaches, and jaw pain, even making your neck feel stiff.  Today, there is a simple appliance approved by the FDA for the prevention of migraine pain.  It is called the NTI Tension Suppression System.  NTI prevents contact of the teeth between the molars and canine teeth, without which your jaw muscles cannot clench and become fatigued.

Oral Cancer

A sore that does not heal or that bleeds easily.  A red, white, or discolored patch or lump in or around your mouth.  These are just a few of the signs of oral cancer.  The problem with oral cancer is that most pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions are completely painless, and patients often seek treatment too late, when the disease has advanced to a stage where survival rates are the lowest.  How can you protect yourself from oral cancer?  In addition to healthy habits (like avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol use), visit your dentist for regular checkups.  We can screen you for signs of cancer and will always be on the alert for any early developments.
